4 Tips for Recovering After Rhinoplasty

If you're considering rhinoplasty, you will want to be prepared for it. The good news is this surgery can dramatically change your appearance and may enable you to get the nose you want. However, in an attempt to recover as quickly as possible, you will want to know what you should or shouldn't do. Being aware of specific tips you can use after this operation can be ideal for a quick recovery.

Tip #1:  Elevate

One thing you will want to be sure to do is to keep your head elevated while you're sleeping. This can be accomplished by adding an extra pillow your bed.

Sleeping in this position will work to decrease any swelling you may have in the short term.

Tip #2: Be careful

The last thing you will want to do is to bump your nose. Of course, this can occur if you have kids or pets in your home.

Be mindful of what you do each day to ensure you avoid any close contact around the nose area with others.

Tip #3: Watch your diet

You will want to be certain to eat soft foods as much as possible a couple weeks after having the surgery. This may speed up the healing process and will be much less uncomfortable for you, as well.

Additionally, you will want to be sure to eat a diet that is low in salt to help avoid water retention. This may be helpful when it comes to a speedier recovery after the surgery.

Tip #4:  Consider pain medication

You may experience some discomfort after having his surgery, and you'll want to work to eliminate this. Doing so can help you rest better and this is the key to feeling your best.

It's ideal to speak to your doctor about pain medications to alleviate your discomfort after this operation. Be sure to only use this medicine as necessary to eliminate the potential of becoming addicted to it.
